Mix 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol with about 10 drops of food coloring in a ziplock bag. Add 1 or 1 1/2 cups of pasta, seal the bag, and gently mix. Put together as many different bags (and colors!) as you want. Lay the bags flat, flipping occasionally, for 1-2 hours. Open the bags and dump the contents out on waxed paper lined cookie sheets. Let the pasta air-dry over night. I like to use this pasta for a Phonics activity at the start of the year where I write students names out on a big sheet of paper, have them (or a grown-up) trace the letters with school glue, and then students can build the letters of their name with colorful pasta!
